Big East Nature____Pennsylvania and New York State

Long Island, New York features stretches of beautiful coastline along the Atlantic Ocean and the Long Island Sound. At the Fire Island National Seashore, the Monkey explored a forest of grass among the sand dunes that hold back the stormy waters of the Atlantic. For New Years 2004, the Monkey went with friends to Pennsylvania's Pocono Mountain region. Part of the Appalachian Range, the Poconos are low mountains that peak around 600 meters, but recreational activities such as hiking and skiing are very popular in the area.
