Government Buildings
To be clear, despite the ranking numbers, this isn't really a hierarchical list of governments or their buildings. However, in his diplomatic missions, the Monkey has visited several seats of political power. In this list, he displays some of his favorites.

The more the Monkey travels, the more this list should grow...

11.

Congress, Buenos Aires, Argentina

While lamentably not in constant use since its opening (due to military coups), the Argentine Congress is a magnificent building.

See more of Argentina's beauty here.
10.

Parliament, Vienna, Austria

Recalling the glory of ancient Greece, the Austria's 19th Century Parliament building stands regally along Vienna's Ringstrasse.

9.

Stadhuis, Brussels, Belgium

Just in case you were wondering who's calling the shots in Brussels civic politics, the imposing Stadhuis is a good indicator.

More from Brussels and Belgium available here.
8.

Power Nexus, Brasilia, Brasil

Brasil's purpose-built capital is a tour de force in Modern architecture. Various ministries occupy the parallel rows of glass-walled tower blocks, while the Congress soars vertically over the plains in twin tower connected by a bridge at half-height.

See a little more of Brasil here.
7.

The Capitol, Washington DC, United States

Another appeal to Greco-Roman grandiosity, the U.S. Capitol houses the two chambers of Congress from its perch on "The Hill."

Tour the United States with the Monkey here.
6.

The Largo, Sofia, Bulgaria

The finest Communist era setpiece in the Balkans, these imposing Soviet Realist buildings house the offices of various Bulgarian dignitaries including the president. The central structure was once the Bulgarian Communist Party headquarters.

Lots more pictures from Bulgaria available here.
5.

Palace of Justice, Bogotá, Colombia

Totally destroyed in a military-guerrilla clash in the 1980s, Colombia's Palace of Justice has been rebuilt in Bogotá's political core.

Four Courts, Dublin, Ireland

Shelled during the Irish Civil War, this elegant 18th Century structure along the Liffey hosts Ireland's highest courts.

Many more Irish delights on view here.
4.

Ministry of the Interior, Havana, Cuba.

One of several government buildings fronting the expansive Plaza de la Revolución, the Ministry of the Interior once housed Ernest 'Che' Guevara's office and his image still hangs on its façade.

See more of Cuba here.
3.

Grand Ducal Palace, Luxembourg City, Luxembourg.

Tucked into a sidestreet in Luxembourg's compact core, the Grand Ducal Palace is the home and office of the reigning Duke!

See other parts of stunning Luxembourg here.
2.

Parliament, London, England, United Kingdom.

Perhaps the most recognizable government building in the world, the British Parliament dominates a section of the Thames waterfront.

Visit London with the Monkey here.
And last but not least...
1.

United Nations Security Council, UN Headquarters, New York, United States.

This horseshoe-shaped roundtable has been privy to some of the most important debates, both good and bad, of the post-World War II era. The Monkey is a frequent advisor at top-level discussions.
